rush back into the kitchen, where Sarah is helping your dad load food into
another large plastic garbage bag. "Dad, it's time to go. There are
fucking zombies outside!"
Dad looks up at you with surprise in his eyes. "The streets were clear when I got here, though. How are we going to get to the car?"
You laugh at him. "If we have to, we'll shoot our way to the car. C'mon, let's go."
You pull your dad to his feet and the three of you rush towards the front door. Suddenly you hear a crash from the back. You hear a window shatter.
Your dad pulls away from you. "It could be your mother coming in the back way!"
"Dad, stop!" you yell after him, but he rushes towards the back of the house.

here," you say to Sarah, who stands there, still without a gun, as you
rush towards the back of the house. You hear a large crash as you come around
the corner.
There is a massive zombie lumbering through the living room towards your father. He has frozen up and is simply standing there, staring.
"Bob? Bob, is that you?" your dad asks. You recognize your neighbour Bob now that your father has said the name, despite the large chunks of flesh falling from his teeth.
"Bob?" your dad asks.
Your shotgun blast sends your dad reeling. Bob's head has disappeared in a mist of brain matter.
"You... you shot Bob," your dad says slowly.
"Dad, do you understand the concept of zombies?"
Suddenly you hear a scream from Sarah. You rush back towards the front door and see her standing, her body pressed against the door as there are loud thumps against it from outside.

He throws the zombie, a young girl, off of him, a chunk of flesh going with her, and then finally pulls his trigger, leaving her with half a face.
"Fuck," he says. "Let's go," he calls and motions to the two of you.
You follow him back around to the front of the building.

it falling backwards. Pump. You fire again, catching the final zombie in the
face and sending it's body collapsing to the ground.
You grab your father, whose arm is bleeding profusely, and throw him into the back of the police car. "We're getting the fuck out of here!" you say to him as you jump into the passenger seat.
Sarah hits the gas and you peel out of the driveway. "Hit the sirens, babe," you tell her as you speed down the road.

You pull past the cars and onto the highway. The traffic is moving, albeit slowly. Now that you're on the highway there is nowhere for anyone to pull over to let you by, so Sarah kills the lights and the sirens and you plod forward.

The first shot rings out and the runner falls. And then everyone is shooting. Your world erupts into fire, bullets, and screaming. You see more people get past the line and more people fall in a hail of bullets. You lose Sarah's hand as you continue to surge forward.
You see a woman fall to your left, and then a man fall to your right. And then when you look to your left again, the woman has risen, her eyes changing colour. You scream and continue running forward. You see the line of soldiers in front of you, some of them still shooting, some grappling with others.
The soldiers first try to hold people back, but then one soldier falls, and someone is scrambling past the line.

She cries out for you.

you have no way of knowing if the wound in her leg is from a bite or a bullet,
you turn your back on Sarah.
You don't look back as you see her scream for your help. You dodge through the crowd, avoiding zombies and people alike. You arrive at the line of soldiers, and it's no longer a line. The soldiers have stopped fighting and are running. The civilians are running. And the zombies are chasing.
You see a soldier jumping into a truck and turning it on. A woman rushes forward and opens the passenger door.
You don't look back as you see her scream for your help. You dodge through the crowd, avoiding zombies and people alike. You arrive at the line of soldiers, and it's no longer a line. The soldiers have stopped fighting and are running. The civilians are running. And the zombies are chasing.

He swallows hard and nods. He hits the gas, spins the truck around, and goes ploughing through the crowd, soldier, zombie and civilian alike falling under his wheels.
And then you're free of the crowd and speeding down the highway in the large, slow truck. He looks at you and smiles. "Do, how'd I end up with such a hottie in my truck?"
He looks at you with fear in his eyes, and you look at him with cold eyes. You point your shotgun calmly at his chest. "May I suggest you fucking drive, soldier boy? And may I also suggest that you don't stop for anything in our way?"
He swallows hard and nods. He hits the gas, spins the truck around, and goes ploughing through the crowd, soldier, zombie and civilian alike falling under his wheels.
And then you're free of the crowd and speeding down the highway in the large, slow truck. He looks at you and smiles. "Do, how'd I end up with such a hottie in my truck?"
"Guess
you're just lucky. And alive. Keep driving, asshole." He grins and
laughs.
The driver goes to turn on the military radio. As he's leaning down, the flap to the back of the truck opens and an arm reaches out, grabbing the driver. He swerves off the road, smashing through the barrier and into a ditch.
You are thrown forward towards the window.

You are thrown forward towards the window.

Your eyes open, blood pouring down your face. You hear a moan and look over to see a zombie trying to get out of the back of the truck and grab at the soldier.
You
manage to raise your shotgun through the haze of blood in your eyes. You pull
the trigger. And hear a click. You're out of shells. The zombie grabs at the
soldier and sinks its teeth into his neck, making the soldier scream in
pain.
You smash at the zombie's head with your shotgun, but you do not do enough damage to subdue it. It turns and looks at you, baring its bloody teeth.
You grab your pistol from the back of your jeans, pull it out, and pull the trigger. The zombie reels back. You look at the bleeding soldier and shrug.
You manage to get yourself out of the truck and crawl into the grass beside the highway. Your head continues to pour blood.
You feel that you are close to passing out. You see a number of figures rushing towards you. You wipe at your eyes, but you can barely see.
You smash at the zombie's head with your shotgun, but you do not do enough damage to subdue it. It turns and looks at you, baring its bloody teeth.
You grab your pistol from the back of your jeans, pull it out, and pull the trigger. The zombie reels back. You look at the bleeding soldier and shrug.
You manage to get yourself out of the truck and crawl into the grass beside the highway. Your head continues to pour blood.
You feel that you are close to passing out. You see a number of figures rushing towards you. You wipe at your eyes, but you can barely see.
You

You are thrown back into the grass by their bullets. The gun falls from your hand as you collapse onto your back.

"Who knows. Fucking craziness, man."
"Too bad, she was fucking hot."
"Well, might as well put one in her head so she doesn't come back and bite us, eh?"
